Who Am I?
“I know I am in my own little world but it is ok. They know me here.”
(Author unknown)
Hi:
My name is Debbie and I am a fifty four year old woman who sustained a group of heart attacks in a very short period of time when I was thirty two years old. I have two daughters named Carrie and Kelly who I have raised on my own since they were sixteen and seven years respectively. Sometimes the biggest challenge we face is to find someone who can validate the thoughts and feelings that occur in our muddled thinking during each phase of recovery. There is no wrong or right answer. We are all entitled to our own feelings and thoughts. After expressing them it becomes much easier to recognize the truth from the fiction. This in turn allows us to grow and mature making it easier to move forward in a positive way.
My hope is that both men and women who have experienced a temporary or long term illness and those who support them can come here to freely express the realities and challenges during recovery on a more human versus professional outlook. In telling the story about my heart attack and life, my goal is to create an environment where we can share and support each other through both the physical and mental stresses concerning both the long and short term events that take place after any serious illness or life changing experience.
Whether or not this interests anyone remains to be seen. I however, will benefit from the exorcist of all the bottled thoughts that still reside in my head.
Please feel free to comment even if you think it may be off topic. Or start a new topic. I feel all things are inter-related in thought as in nature.
In an effort to keep the telling of this story from depressing all who choose to read it, I have tried to inject some humor along the way. It has helped me many times in the last twenty two years. No offense is intended.
Perhaps we can take that road together with my continuing story. I wait in anticipation for your added tales and comments. I believe we can help ourselves and the people who will inevitably follow.
